The Tarn gorges, Jonte, Causses and the Lot valley. The Tarn gorges and Jonte deep cut into the Great Causses of Sauveterre and Mejean to form a magnificent natural ensemble that enjoys an international reputation, and further north, the Lot Valley, near its source, separates Causse de Sauveterre of Aubrac and Margeride. The places have kept many traces of a rich and prestigious past. The originality of the Caussenarde architecture, sculpted rocks such surprising villages in ruins and the immense flocks of sheep land, are serene invitation to hikers and wilderness.

The Cevennes and the Mont Lozere, south of the Lozère, the Cévennes, protected by the National Park, stand facing the Languedoc plain and the Mediterranean.
